The class of 1967 is planning a 60th birthday bash on Saturday, June 27, 2009. The event will take place at the Freight Shed on the beach in Yorktown, VA, from 5 PM to 11 PM. Food and drinks will be catered by our own Sandy Eyrich and music provided by our favorite DJ, Gator Allmond. Dress is casual and the cost is $50 per person. Rooms have been reserved at the Duke of York for Friday, June 26th and Saturday, June 27th. An extra, free option for gathering is available to us Friday night as well. Summertime in Yorktown means Friday "Shagging on the waterfront" which includes live music, dancing, local food vendors and lots of people from the area attending. Details and registration forms will be sent out via email in January, 2009, and via post to those without email access. Please mark your calendars and make an effort to attend this celebration! 2008 YHS Alumni Scholarship Recipient
Hello YHS alumni and friends,
Our spring mixer, held Friday, May 2nd, 2008, was a great success and lots of fun thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and YOU, our alumni. Approximately 150 alumni and friends gathered at the Watermen's Museum in Yorktown on a fabulous spring evening and reconnected with many classmates. We had a new band perform for us, "Live Wire" with Lynda Smith and three YHS alumni band members: Frank Pitchford '73, Richard Eanes '73, and Mike Gleeson '80. They were great! Sponsors for this mixer were Tommy Meehan, of C. D. West and Company Real Estate in Newport News, VA, and Beth Gallagher Meisner '67, of the York Town Crier - Poquoson Post, who has provided us with free ads in the Crier since before the Golden Jubilee in 2004 and continues to do so now. Thanks go to both of them for their continued support. Thanks also to all who were there for helping support our annual YHS scholarship given to a qualifying YHS senior to attend the college of their choice. Eunice Taylor Fenwick '59, Scholarship Committee Chair, presented The YHS Alumni Association, Inc., Scholarship of $1,000 to this year's recipient, Zechariah Dillingham, at the YHS awards night held May 29, 2008. Members of the Alumni Fund Raising Committee have planned to hold another YARD SALE on Saturday, September 27th in front of the York High School entrance. Details will be sent out about the end of August along with information regarding our fall mixer (see below). In the meantime, save up your unwanted, but useable and recyclable, STUFF and bring it out to us and support the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. Thank you!
Our next alumni mixer will be held at the Watermen's Museum on Friday, October 3, 2008. The band has not been confirmed at this time, but details will be sent out later. You can always visit the alumni web site for the latest info. Please bring your friends and join us while supporting the YHS Alumni Scholarship Fund and have fun meeting and reuniting with other alumni from York High.
Anyone wishing to become an alumni committee member or a mixer sponsor is asked to contact us for details. We welcome you to join our committee or help us in any way that will benefit our yearly scholarship. Also, keep in touch! We must have a valid email address to be able to contact you and we welcome any suggestions and comments! We look forward to hearing from you soon.

The YHS Alumni Scholarship Committee is proud to announce the 4th year of awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a qualifying YHS senior. Eunice Taylor Fenwick '59, Scholarship Committee Chair, presented The YHS Alumni Association, Inc., Scholarship of $1,000 to this year's recipient, Zechariah Dillingham, at the YHS awards night held May 29, 2008.
The YHS Alumni Association members work hard all year to raise funds to continue this annual scholarship. We appreciate every one's contributions, sponsorships and participation in our fundraising events. Thank you.
